Packing disaster area

After having visited Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, and countless other stores for what seems like a million times in the past three weeks, I think I am finally done shopping. Host family gifts were last on my list, and I just bought those, so hopefully I am done. I never thought I would say this, but I am getting a little sick of all the errands and second trips to the store because I forgot something, although it could have waited because I was going back later anyway, but I never would have remembered because I didn't write it down...and so on.

Now all that's left to do is pack - both pack up my room in boxes and pack my Peace Corps stuff in bags. I did a test-pack over the weekend, and everything seemed to fit. It will still take some creative squishing to get everything in, but it should all fit. I'm testing out all my new toys so I can figure out how they work while tech support (AKA my dad) is still easily available, so I made a video of what my packing disaster area looks like.

I got coffee with Sarah yesterday and she said she has one big backpacking backpack as her checked bag, a carry on, and her purse and that is it for packing. I'm super impressed by that - I have way too much stuff. Maybe I'll leave half my toothpaste here for now and have someone send or bring it to me later - you're all welcome to visit anytime - other than my first and last three months of service.
